Too Many Trolls in Washington D.C. (2025)

Dear Editor:       The Little Troll Prince is the title of a Christmas cartoon TV movie released in the late 1980s.  I often think about this cartoon whenever I access news media about Washington D.C. Perhaps it is because I turned 46 in April and feel nostalgic.  Yet, it is also due to how immoral some of these bigwig politicians in Washington D.C. are acting.      In the cartoon, all the Trolls live by a Golden Rule, "Do unto others before they do unto you", except one nonconformist who also happens to be the young, future king of the Trolls.         The young Troll prince does not want to be mean and is often subjected to discrimination and harassment because he is not cruel, rude, greedy, or uncivil.   Eventually, the prince leaves his fellow Trolls and befriends a kindly married couple of Gnomes who teach him a better Golden Rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." ...

My Thoughts on the 2025 Minnesota Budget Controversy & MA for Illegal Immigrants

Dear Editor (Fargo Forum)         A total denial of MA assistance to adult illegal immigrants could have some serious public health and safety implications for citizens and legal immigrants.   Suppose an "undocumented" member gets something like COVID or has a chronic illness, such as diabetes. My Reply To Roxane Salonen (Jan 2025). Published in the Fargo Forum Newspaper.

In response to  Roxane Salonen's Jan. 5 column,  yes, people should not light other people on fire, in a subway or anywhere else. I favor a reasonable immigration policy that keeps America safe, competitive, and multicultural. Congressional efforts to do something of this sort were blocked by incoming President Donald Trump, who preferred to keep the issue alive rather than have Republicans and Democrats work together to get something sane done. Yes, people should not molest or rape other people, family, or strangers. Parenting is a serious business and something worth protecting. However, most same-sex or opposite-sex couples that do adopt kids do not abuse them, but they do sometimes embarrass them, especially when the kids hit adolescence. Yes, I would agree with the concept that “we’re all made in God’s image and likeness”, although I would assume that includes the immigrants, as well as members of the LGBTQ+/Allied community. Yes, reasonable legal and medical guardrails s...
